Product Description

This looks like a flat, fat pen. It has two ends with removeable caps. One end has a fine point tip while the other has a broad scrubber. My last bleach pen was used up last week and I have since thrown it away, but I would imagine it measures about 5 to 6 inches long.

While the pen's contents does smell faintly like bleach, it is not very strong. The pen does contain hypochlorite bleach, but the concentration is much lower than with liquid bleach. The contents are more of a gel consistency.

It is recommended that you shake the pen before using it to be sure that the bleach and white gel are well mixed.

Contains: Surfactants and hypochlorite bleach. Contains no phosphorus.

Thoughts

While this bleach pen works good for the occasional time I need to bleach a small area of clothing, it does not work well on grout or caulking. One of the reasons I purchased it was because I thought it would work nicely for whitening the grout in between the tiles in my shower. It failed miserably at that. I attempted to whiten my grout for a second time last week, thinking maybe I didn't shake it up good enough the first time. I applied it straight to the grout and let it sit for an hour until it was dry. I then attempted to spray the bleach mixture off my tile with my shower head, but it would not come off. I had to clean it off with a sponge, as it had dried to a hard white substance. When I had it all cleaned off, the tile was in the same shape as before I applied the bleach gel. Disappointed as I was, I put some liquid bleach in a spray bottle and sprayed my tile - 30 minutes later it was as good as new.

I did find that as the pen container neared empty it was harder to get the gel out. I had to shake it down, and when I squeezed it some sprayed out where I didn't want it go! (Just like that near empty bottle of catsup or mustard does!) It ended up right on the sleeve of my navy blue sweater, leaving a small brown spot. I took a navy permanent marker and turned it blue again. That worked great! (I don't know why it left a brown spot and not a white spot!).

Bottom line is that this pen works well for clothes, but I have had no success with grout or caulking, two areas that Clorox claims it works on.
